Beacon Hill Fell Race 2014

So, this was my third running of this great little race. There are 3 reasons why I really like to run this race:

1st – it’s a nice course

2nd – it’s close to home

3rd – it has a great relaxed atmosphere

The weather was perfect this year, sunny but not too hot. It was a fairly small field , which included  my friend Ash who wanted (or I forced him to have) a taste of fell racing. Details of the race can be found below:

In terms of racing performance, I ran within the top 10 (I won a bottle of beer! Whoop!), which was a first for me. After the first climb I think I was sixth, but my quad isn’t 100% yet (after Scafell Pike Marathon) so I didn’t want to push too hard throughout the race and thus ended up losing a couple of positions. Regardless, it was another really enjoyable evening on the Simonside Hills. It was good to see Ash enjoy the race and post a very good time.

Thanks to the organisers and marshals, it really is a super race!

Harriet came to watch (with Toby) and snapped a couple of pics.
